Rethink Your Frosting Choices !

We are back with another What The **** Is That?

Who doesn’t love the convenience of grabbing a tub of cake frosting from the store? It’s quick, it’s easy, offering multiple flavors, and it seems like a no-brainer when you’re in the baking aisle. But let’s take a moment and flip it over and really examine what we’re putting into our bodies.

In this specific product, we are only discussing Carrageenan, Polysorbate 80, and Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate.

Carrageenan: This additive is used as a texturizing agent and could increase the risk of developing Breast Cancer. Also suspected of disrupting the gut microbiota and causing chronic intestinal inflammation. Look closely; this additive is in a lot of food.

Polysorbate 80: This carcinogenic additive is full of too many associated risks. It is not safe to consume and should be avoided. It is a texturing agent and is suspected of significantly disrupting the gut microbiota, which leads to chronic inflammation. Thus, weakening the immune system and contributes to the onset of Type 2 Diabetes, Cancer, and obesity.

Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (Disodium Pyrophosphate): This is a carcinogenic synthetic additive used as a texturing agent in your tub of frosting (amongst other things). This additive can disrupt bone mineralization, cause harmful effects to the kidneys, and increase your risk of cardiovascular diseases and Breast Cancer.

Now that you are aware, the next time you are at the store, save yourself from these toxins and make the frosting yourself! 😀

Remember, clean choices start with awareness 👍
